I’ve been retired for 9 months now. Am I still retired? Yes. Are we still in a position for both me and Nina (MsFinancialLiteracy) to remain retired? Yes.
Occasionally I’ll see on LinkedIn: “Someone with the job title Recruiter viewed your profile.” Hahahaha. I’m thinking, “Good luck with that.” I’m easily amused and I view this as a beneficial trait. Laughter is good for the soul.
The last time I provided an update on our scoreboard was 175 days ago. Since that time, our snowball has grown from $1,711,700 (December 14th 2017) to $1,753,200 (June 6th 2018). To understand why I decided to be open about revealing our number, I recommend reading my original scoreboard post.
During this time, we’ve had many amazing travels as a family including a two week trip to Côte d’Azur (aka the French Rivieria). I consider this region one of the best places on Earth.
The $41,500 increase doesn’t represent our full market gains, because we have been drawing down our cash and living off of dividends and interest. In fact, we’ve sold $4,000 worth of municipal bonds at one point in January. This is because we have some of our cash tied up. We’d rather have larger, less-frequent sales rather than smaller, more frequent sales. This is because of the $6.95 transaction cost with each trade.
I have much to say about the many awesome experiences that retirement has enabled. And the amazing people I’ve been able to connect with at a deeper level. However, I think I’ll save this type of sharing for future posts. In the meantime, I invite you to read from a selection of some of my other posts based upon whatever suits your fancy:

We have very similar net worth grow over the last 10 years, on top of that it is hard to find anyone who shares 10 years worth of NW history. Very interesting to see how close we track.
That’s awesome OthalaFehu! I hope to meet you someday during my family’s travels as we network with more early retirees and people interested in FIRE.
Whereabouts do you reside?
